THE MAJOR

COURSE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PSYCHOLOGY BA MAJOR

Your major must include a minimum of 36 credits (35 if you declared the major before September 2005), at least half of which must be taken at Queens College.

Minimum Grades:  Psychology majors who matriculated at QC starting Fall 2013 or later need a minimum grade of C in Psych 101, 107.3 &107.1, 213W, and 311-321 (Advanced Lab courses) even if the courses were transferred to QC.   All remaining Psych electives require a grade of C- or better.

Students who matriculated before Fall 2013 are subject to different grade and GPA requirements.

Residency Requirements state that at last half (18) of the required credits toward the major (including Advanced Experimental course) must be taken at Queens College.

Students may not P/NC any Psychology course.

All psychology students should see a peer advisor for more personalized guidance on major requirements and course selection.

Transfer students are strongly advised to have their credits evaluated by a faculty advisor as soon as possible after they first matriculate.

Carefully review the checklist below and download the PDF Major Advising Sheet to make sure you are taking the correct classes and speak with our peer advisors if you have any questions. The Department strictly enforces all listed prerequisites.
